What is Ubuntu Operating System
उबन्टू (Ubuntu) लिनक्स से निकला हुआ प्रचालन तंत्र है। यह सबसे पहले २००४ के अक्टूबर में आया था। यह डेबियन लिनक्स पर आधारित था और आज इसपर आधारित और भी लिनक्स प्रशाख (Dictribution) हैं जैसे लिनक्स मिंट। यह हर वर्ष दो संस्करण निकालती है - अप्रैल (जैसे १४.०४, वर्ष २०१४ के ४थे महीने में) और अक्टूबर (*.१०)। इसके कामकाज का संचालन कैनोनिकल करती है जो इसी के तरह के और प्रचालन तंत्र बनाती है जैसे – कुबन्तु  इत्यादि।

Ubuntu जो की एक ancient African word है- एक Debian-based Linux operating system है | Ubuntu का मतलब है ‘humanity to others’ या फिर ‘I am what I am because of who we all are’. जैसा की Ubuntu का meaning है Ubuntu operating system भी वही spirit world के सभी computers के साथ share करता है और ये personal computers, smartphones and network servers के लिए free available है | Ubuntu GNU General Public License (GPL) पर operates करता है एवं जो भी सारे application software इसके साथ by default install होते है वो free software होते है |

2004 मे Linux ने established enterprise server platform मे अपने को establish कर लिया था लेकिन फिर भी most computer users के लिए free software एक challenge था | इसी सोच के साथ Mark Shuttleworth ने linux project (Linux projects — Debian) पर काम करने वाली एक developer team को sath लेकर एक easy to use Linux based desktop “Ubuntu” बनाने की planning की and Oct 2004 मे इसका first version release किया | Ubuntu एक social सोच के साथ free software है जो की same terms पर सभी के लिए available है | Ubuntu को develop करने  वाली company UK-based Canonical Ltd थी जो की South African entrepreneur Mark Shuttleworth own करते है |
Canonical revenue generate करने के लिए technical support एवं Ubuntu की दूसरी service को sale करते है | The Ubuntu प्रोजेक्ट, open-source software डेवलपमेंट principles के लिए publicly committed है और ये सभी लोगो को फ्री सॉफ्टवेयर को use करने के लिए, इसको study करने के लिए (how it वर्क्स), improve एंड distribute करने के लिए encourage करता है |
Ubuntu, commercial Linux से different है क्योकि ये high-quality commercial version and a free ‘community’ version मे अंतर नहीं करती है .
Ubuntu today : आज की date मे इसके nine flavours and dozens of localised and specialised derivatives है | इसके साथ साथ special editions फॉर servers, OpenStack clouds, and mobile devices version भी available है | After many years Ubuntu still is and always will be free to use, share and develop.
